Turtle Rock Studios, the developers behind the popular co-op horror-survival video game, Left 4 Dead, is back with a new game. According to them, they are currently working in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive on a next-gen co-op FPS game called “Back 4 Blood.”
In the studio’s official announcement that was posted in the Turtle Rock Studios forums, the developers described Back 4 Blood as a game that was designed from the “ground up” as an original and premium title. Fans can also expect that the game has all the features that made their co-op zombie shooter so successful, alongside the use of state-of-the-art technology.
The news immediately caused a stir to fans of the Left 4 Dead franchise, even calling the game as a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead 2 as early as now. However, David Haddad of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment quickly confirmed that Back 4 Blood is entirely set in a new gaming universe. And yes, players will be able to shoot up zombies like in Left 4 Dead, but Back 4 Blood will have a lot of new stuff that makes it unique and sets it apart from the L4D franchise.
As Phil Robb puts it, the studio will not rest on any past laurels. Their goal for Back 4 Blood is to put all the experience and ideas they have learned and push forward.
Although no release date was announced, Turtle Rock Studios confirmed that Back for Blood will be released for Microsoft Windows gaming PC, PS4 and Xbox One gaming consoles. According to the studio, the game will feature a campaign mode and have a Player vs. Player component.
Back 4 Blood is a hugely ambitious AAA project that Turtle Rock Studios believe to surpassed everything they’ve done before.
