The Prince of Persia series will finally return with a new game, but not as a new video game that fans have been waiting for. Instead, we’re getting a VR escape room game.
The news was announced by Ubisoft earlier this month, the game is titled Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time. It is a cooperative escape room which is set in the Prince of Persia universe. It is Ubisoft’s third location-based VR escape room after releasing two other escape room games based on the Assassin’s Creed series.
However, these VR escape room games aren’t something you can play on your personal gaming PC and VR headset. These are actual, physical escape rooms which incorporate virtual reality elements into their puzzles and presentations. They are only playable into one of the 300 plus locations that Ubisoft has them setup.
The Dagger of Time will put two to four players in a reimagined Fortress of Time, which is a location found in the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within game. Inside the escape room, players will have to use their time control powers of the magical dagger to solve the puzzles and stop a sand army from being raised.
Ubisoft also explained that they incorporated some amount of the verticality and traps found in the original game in the escape room. But the main focus of the game is for players to completely utilize the use of their time control powers.
Prince of Persia: The Dagger of Time is scheduled to launch this coming Spring.
