Upcoming in 2019: The Fortnite World Cup

During the Fortnite E3 Celebrity Pro-Am, Epic’s very first Pro-Am, all eyes were on the action-packed tournament, with Ninja and Marshmellow emerging victorious and winning $1,000,000 for their respective charities. For highlights of that, click here. However, in the midst of all the excitement and commotion, Epic Games made an extremely important announcement: an upcoming Fortnite World Cup, with a whopping $100 million in prize money up for grabs.

Qualifiers begin later this year, and with a crazy 125 million player base, the competition — based solely on merit — is going to be fierce. Unfortunately, tournaments will be limited to only Solos and Duos (In their blog post, Epic stated clearly that they will not “be selling teams of franchises, and won’t allow third-party leagues to do so either”) but Epic plans to host Squad events in the future.

Moreover, this international event supports competition on all levels, whether it be community organized events, online events, or major organized worldwide competitions. And of course, the tournament will have its regulations, with rules, the Fall 2018 Schedule, player code of conduct, details about platforms, and more coming soon. Just remember, anyone can participate, anyone can win. Good luck Fortniters!
