Welsh video game studio Wales Interactive has released its new first-person survival horror game, Maid of Sker.
Maid of Sker is said to be based on Welsh folklore fused with British Gothic horror. In this game, the player must survive an encounter with the Quiet Ones. These are creatures known for their bag-headed features. They can hear your every move and even your breathing. One of the best ways to keep them at a distance is by covering your mouth.
But as revealed in its gameplay trailer, the game will feature sonic weaponry, which has a sound pulse-emitting orb that can keep the Quiet Ones at bay.
The game is set in a remote hotel during 1898 with a macabre and gory history. Armed with only a defensive sound device, the player must utilize stealth tactics to avoid death amongst a cult of sound-based enemies.
Maid of Sker is inspired by the haunting Welsh tale of Elisabeth Williams. It tells the story of a family empire driven by slavery, torture, and a supernatural mystery that haunts the hotel’s grounds.
The game features a 3D sound-based AI system as its core survival mechanic. It also delivers realistic visual featuring 4K uncapped on PC with 1080p 60fps minimum.
It also features a beautiful soundtrack with the famous reimagining of famous Welsh hymns such as A Pure Heart, Welsh Lullaby, and All Through the Night from the spine-chilling voice of the Welsh singer, Tia Kalmaru.
Maid of Sker is a chilling game inspired by Welsh folklore fused with gothic and psychological British horror. Its plot is crafted by writing talent and designers that have worked on known games such as SOMA, Battlefield 1, and The Bunker.
Maid of Sker will be released on Microsoft Windows gaming PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It was launched on July 28, 2020.
