Mass Effect: Andromeda is one of the most anticipated games of 2017. Fans don’t have to wait for long; it will finally be released on March 21. Developed by EA’s subsidiary BioWare, the game will be the first in the series to feature an open world environment.
The game will bring a new twist to the fans because unlike the previous installments where you can create your own character, the player will start by choosing to control either Sara or Scott Ryder from a third-person perspective. And instead of picking a class for its unique set of skills, the player can now freely assign any skills they want and develop a specialty over the course of the game. To do this, the player gains points they can use to assign each skill that can constantly be reallocated so that they can experiment with various gameplay without having to restart the game. This means the players can always build their skill set from scratch any time they want.
So let’s get back to Sara and Scott Ryder. Who are these people to start with? Well, their father is Alec Ryder, an Alliance military’s elite who was once a member of Jon Grissom’s original task force. Unlike him, though, Sara and Scott are not frontline soldiers and are pretty much inexperienced. This means that your character will start as a regular colonist who will fight your way up to become a hero, as opposed to Shepard’s status from Mass Effect 1.
Andromeda is set 600 years after the events of Mass Effect 3 and is set in a different galaxy. Shepard’s story will not be connected to Andromeda’s plotline. The players are free to explore the universe aboard the starship Tempest. And similar to the prequels, the game features a dialogue tree, cooperative multiplayer, choices and romantic relationships with companions.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is created using Frostbite Engine so one can expect stunning graphics and realistic lighting as well physics. The engine makes it possible for Bioware to deliver lifelike animations and bring Andromeda’s unexplored worlds to life.
“A big open world is a big thing the team is trying to embrace, and that’s expressed through those amazing looking planets,” Bioware stated. The new world promises distant star systems with remote and hostile planets ripe for players to explore.
Bioware promises a new and exciting world for the fans and a lot of freedom for the players to create their own legend in the game. Mass Effect: Andromeda will be available for Microsoft Windows gaming PCs, XBoxOne, and PlayStation 4.
