RollerCoaster Tycoon World™ is the newest installment in the legendary RCT franchise. Initially planned for release this December 2015, the publisher announced the title would be released instead sometime in early 2016 after its beta feedback. The game was officially announced during Gamescom 2014 with a teaser trailer, subtitled World.

But as the second trailer was showed on March 5, showing a mild gameplay including riding a generic roller coaster, which passes over the park, and showing a roller coaster train flying off its track in a ragdoll-style roll, some critics noted that the game looks worse than 2004’s RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and that it was not much better than a basic mobile game. Atari later stated that the game was still in “pre-alpha” stages, and that the graphics were not yet coded to their full resolution. They also promised that the new visuals would be of higher definition and higher level of realism.

Later on September 29, 2015, it was announced the release date would be December 10, 2015. Two beta weekends will precede the release of the game. On the same month, Atari has provided an update on the status of RollerCoaster Tycoon World and released a new video showcasing gameplay from the in-development theme park simulator.

The behind-the-scenes video focuses on highlighting some of the major technical refinements that World offers. This includes enhanced AI, a terrain deformation tool, Steam Workshop support, and a coaster editor that offers more flexibility than those in past games. According to Gamespot, Atari also reveals in the video that they are collaborating with Six Flags. This is said to be giving the developers at Nvizzio access to the theme park company’s technical expertise and real-world data, such as park schematics, roller coaster designs, and visitor traffic patterns.

The first beta weekend was the last weekend of October and this beta was focused on the new spline-based Coaster Builder. However, feedback from this beta weekend led to Atari deciding to delay the game’s release to early 2016. Consequently, the second beta weekend was also delayed from November to December.

For now, RollerCoaster Tycoon World can be pre-purchased on Steam for $49.99, which promises incredible new advancements such as stunning 3D environments full of roller coaster thrills, exciting flat rides, eager guests, user-generated content, robust social features. So better get those gaming laptops and gaming PCs ready for the new RollerCoaster Tycoon World coming early this year.
